You're getting downvoted by people who think they would have unlimited freedoms in China, but in all actuality just end up ditched on the side of the road, missing a liver.
101
u/Robinsonirish 2h ago
I'm Swedish. I don't think they have unlimited freedoms in China, but I don't think they get killed and thrown in a ditch because they failed a military drill maneuver either. Í don't think the Chinese are in here downvoting you, I think it's just normal Westerners who think you are being hyperbolic.
"Say stupid shit, blame the downvotes on propaganda" is just a cop-out.
23
u/lifeisokay 1h ago edited 1h ago
It's not even good hyperbole. The two dumbasses above you think a hyperbole is just "hur dur foreign adversary bad, let's stick every farfetched claim imaginable on them." Like, na bro, if you really care so much, how about emphasizing some actual atrocities that occurred? They're being downvoted cause it's just straight low-effort, low-quality comments.

u/Stivo887 42m ago
Oh no my imaginary internet points. God Reddit is so fucking weird. Whole ass discussion about meaningless shit.
-36
u/KingOfAzmerloth 1h ago
Then again Reddit LOVES their hyperboles… but oh no it’s about good old socially fair China, quick guys lets downvote and blabber something about capitalistic machine being just as bad while sipping shitty oversweetened latte from Starbucks AND being actually free to say so without any risk of persecution.
22
u/Robinsonirish 1h ago
You're doing it again, being hyperbolic, is this satire? Complaining about Reddit hyperbole, while being hyperbolic. Nobody is propping up China here, just simply refuting the hyperbole. I don't even feel that's some normal thing to do on Reddit in general. China is shit on pretty often, but because we don't speak Chinese we cannot really have much dialogue with people in China. Nobody is talking about the "bad capitalistic machine while sipping on Starbucks" here, except you.

u/Ne_zievereir 1h ago
Lmfao, so it's either unlimited freedom or getting executed for laughing during a military salute? Nothing in between exists?

u/Etceta 2h ago
bro read too much flat earther propaganda
16
u/idontlikeredditusers 2h ago
well theres a nugget of truth china has vastly lower freedoms than most countries but unless you are protesting the government or talking bad about china online you are most likely gonna be fine
remember kids EVERY country is capable of pumping out propaganda dont go believing north korea is a paradise cuz of "american propaganda" cough r/MovingToNorthKorea cough
1
u/OcelotAggravating860 1h ago
Protesting is fine. There are thousands of protests all over the country all the time.
There is a significant difference between protesting policies (fine) and calling for the overthrow of the government(definitely censored).
If policy protest were impossible then China's policy would never change, they probably have the largest reputation in the world for having changeable policy though.
In China you can change the policy, not the government. In the west you can change the governmnet but not the policy.
0
u/Robinsonirish 58m ago
What do you mean we can't change policy in the west? In my country, Sweden, we have flipflopped on immigration, and gone to being more neoliberal from socialist in nature. We have definitely made big changes to society in the past few years. Look at Germany and their energy switch. Britain and Brexit. Massive changes in both policy and government.
So I think that's a bit hyperbolic as well. We certainly have the capacity to change direction, and enact change.

u/OcelotAggravating860 52m ago
Claiming British policy has changed to a mod of the largest left wing British subreddit is funny as fuck. No it hasn't. It's the same as ever. Blue tory out, red tory in.
You might fool the dipshit amerikkkans that dominate this hellsite but nobody in the left from the UK is going to agree with you.
1
u/Robinsonirish 46m ago
So the claim is that there needs to be a switch from right to left wing politics, in order for policy changes to happen? That's quite a bit further on than what I claimed.
3
u/OcelotAggravating860 34m ago
Sure you can frame it that way if you like. I would frame it more like there is an extremely narrow range of acceptable policy in bourgeois-democracies that can effectively be described as "whatever benefits the ruling class".
In China on the other hand the acceptable range of policy is WIIIIDE and can be what benefits the bourgeoisie but can also be very much what does not benefit them also. Take for example the intentional crashing of the property market to its current 20-year low under Xi's "housing is for living, not for speculation" approach. You're never seeing that shit in a bourgeois-democracy without creating the conditions where it would benefit the bourgeoisie to implement it and the only conditions where you're going to generate that kind of leverage is if they literally fear for their lives if they do not. You would have to be on the cusp of revolution threatening them into believing it is in their interests.
This is how all policy in bourgeois-democracy operates. Everything good that happens is generated by convincing them it is in their interests. Similarly everything bad that happens occurs because they feel it is in their interests. Right now all the fascistic policy going into effect is preparatory work for climate crisis instability. This again boils down to the bourgeoisie seeing it as "it is in our interests".
China's policy on the other hand is built on a more rational foundation that allows for a much broader range of policy unrestricted by these bourgeois interests, because it is not a bourgeois-democracy.

Are you really bragging about being a mod on reddit? As if that gives you any credibility at all?
0
u/NBAccount 24m ago
to a mod of the largest left wing British subreddit
...This is not the flex you think it is. Being a reddit mod is not a qualification for...well, ANYthing. Being a mod somewhere doesn't mean you know fuck-all about a subject. In fact, it often means you have been stuck in an echo chamber getting high off the smell of your own farts.
1
u/OcelotAggravating860 21m ago
Oh god oh fuck how dare our echo chamber exist over your neoliberal echo chamber presented as "fair and neutral" but that just so happens to ban anyone presenting an opinion further left than David Cameron.
How about you talk about something you understand instead of sticking your nose into other people's politics you stupid amerikkkan prick.

Modern China is just like late soviet union, there's very little executions and shit like that but you can still get in prison for being anti-communist but it's not North Korea

Why do you stop shouting "It's AI" when faced with actual AI-generated deepfake videos?

The Chinese military does not allow beards, especially honor guards who have even higher requirements for appearance. You should know very well how this image with a faint mustache came about.

This is just an AI-generated video, you can easily find the original video.
Late 2022: Companies such as Meta, Google, and Runway released the first models capable of generating video from text. However, these early examples were mostly grainy, flickering clips lasting only a few seconds.

u/OcelotAggravating860 1h ago
Your brain is AI-generated. This video is from 2008 and people here literally remember seeing it the first time.

Do you not see all the indicators that says 2022 in the video or?

No, hold on. It's a valid question. I don't know that every code of conduct in this kind of ceremony would forbid smiling. But as you say, in this case the answer is yes.
