Bald Picture This was very difficult for me. Losing the battle but not the war for my self image
I'm still on the fence of liking it or not. I may go for hair transplant surgery, but no matter what I do, I'm done with feeling like I no longer have control.
Edit: This blew up far more than expected. Thank you all for the overwhelmingly positive feedback. Self-image is a crazy thing. I'm still struggling to recognize the man in the mirror, but this helps.

I was kind of nervous based on the title, then kept swiping and said, "oh shit!"
Seriously, fantastic!

Seriously, dude. Nervous? Whyy? You were worried too many people would go into heat around you?
Edit: thank you for the award, kind redditor. May karma keep your pillow cool.

Bro gave himself such a glowup that nobody's even mentioned the tan suit.

u/No-Kaleidoscope-166 10h ago
The suit just makes him look slicker. I'm sure the folks at work didn't recognize him. Lol

Right? I should be so lucky if I look half as good as he does. My face is so angular and my skull has ridges; I’ll end up looking like Lord Voldemart if i ever have to shave my head.

If you're already saying you're going to shave it in 2-3 years you should probably just go ahead and do it now.

That was one of those things where the mirror just lies to me, and I believed the mirror, because I was in denial.

u/kro23 17h ago
I mean, it looked ok up front. Sorry if what I said was shitty. Combovers just sort of shock me.
The bald suits you! You look great! Welcome to the club.

I love seeing all these praising and supportive comments, but this is a realistic and factual endorsement of his decision in a pragmatic bro kinda way. It's superior in every way to the before pic, even mechanically. This man can no longer have his day destroyed by a gust of wind.
Hell, he even moves slightly faster through it.

I had this happen too. Mine wasn't a comb over, just a spot. I thought it was smaller than it was. Caught a glance in a hotel bathroom mirror. Not huge, but larger. Decided in that moment that a very short buzz or nothing was thr only acceptable path.
Total glow up for you op!

The great thing for you now is knowing you don’t have those angles you don’t wanna be seen from. Also no bed head…ever again!

Yeah, that is an issue a lot of people deal with. Your eyes are in a fixed position so you just can't see the "bad" parts and just assume it's all fine.

Exactly this. My dad had a mustache since before I was born. One day he decided to shave it off and I was like "who tf are you!?"

u/shayetheleo 16h ago
Have you seen the videos of babies reacting to their newly barefaced dads with shock, confusion, and fear? Same vibe.
5
u/EnsoElysium 16h ago
My dad had Weird Al-esque long curly hair for my entire life, then one day we went to visit him on a business trip and it was just GONE. I dont think I cried but it was such a shock that my reaction was to be mad lol. I liked the curls!

u/iwearstripes2613 14h ago
My step-sister was afraid of my step-dad when he shaved his mustache. She warmed up pretty quickly, though.

Mine was the opposite. No moustache my entire childhood and then he grew one. I hated it. Still do.

That’s to be expected. Kids don’t usually adjust to visual changes well. They like predictability- watching the same movie, eating the same things, knowing what dad is supposed to look like, etc. It messes with what they consider normal in their minds. Give her time, her little brain is processing this change. It’s good for her to develop this mental flexibility but it doesn’t mean it feels good to her yet.
My kids did the same when my husband changed his look. He embraced the Vin Diesel look and has added and subtracted facial hair over the years. I love it! My kids had to warm up to the changes though.
4
u/Inderific 15h ago
When he was a baby, my son refused to acknowledge my husband after he cut his short for like a week. He had to put on a hat to be around his own child. Stranger danger! LOL. Don't worry, everyone got over it. Children are fickle creatures.

u/Little_Chocolate2663 17h ago
Young children don’t like it when a parent changes looks. She’ll be fine.

u/chefbobbyjay 17h ago
My 6 year old didn’t like that I got corrective eye surgery and don’t wear glasses anymore. It was honestly a thing for me too bc I’ve worn them my whole life. r/kidsarefuckingstupid lol.

Oh man. When my sis and I were like maybe 5 and 3 (I am younger), my dad decided he wanted to shave his full beard and mustache. He brought us in the bathroom with him and shaved in front of us, the whole time saying "It's still me - still Daddy!" We were fine until he wiped his face with a towel and when he took it away we both started bawling.
We got over it fast though.

Brother you look fuckin great, such a natural look for your head shape. Great combo with the beard too. Lean into it and embrace it, you'll learn to think of the this as your authentic look rather than if you chase the past with the transplant surgery.

Start shaving your head. Especially now that it’s summertime. It will make you look 20 years younger and save you tens of thousands moving forward. You’ll be surprised how good it will look on you….. buy the right clippers or your head will break out like a palmagranit (Oster classic 76 clippers

A MILLION times better, dude.
I just wish they’d progress further on the efficacy of laser treatments, because I’d 100% get my head lasered so I didn’t have to deal with shaving it nonstop or it looking like hot garbage when I don’t shave it.
