Feels good man On the same day the members of the City Council voted to give themselves a pay raise, Zohran Mamdani rejected an 18% salary increase, saying, “I haven’t knocked on anyone’s door in New York City and had them tell me their concern is that the mayor makes too little.”

Gasp! America is so expensive that it's now cheaper to vacation in Japan than go to Disney World
Rising prices at Walt Disney World in Florida have pushed a growing number of families to run an unlikely comparison: flying all the way to Japan for Tokyo Disney instead. With Disney World ticket prices now starting around $119 a day for guests 10 and up, before add-ons like line-skipping, the sticker shock is real, and the internet has noticed.
On the ground, Tokyo genuinely wins, and it isn't close. A single-day adult ticket to Tokyo Disneyland or DisneySea runs roughly $50 to $70, so cheap that you could visit both Tokyo parks for less than one day at Disney World. Food averages around $40 a person per day versus about $60 in Florida, and souvenirs and hotels are comparably gentler on the wallet. The engine behind the deal is the exchange rate: with the yen historically weak against the dollar, American visitors' money simply stretches further on nearly everything in Japan.
Here's the honest catch, though: whether the entire vacation beats Florida comes down to airfare. Round-trip flights from the U.S. to Tokyo run about $500 to $1,200 or more per person in 2026, against under $300 to Orlando. For West Coast travelers, or anyone who snags a flight deal or uses points, Tokyo can genuinely undercut a Disney World trip while offering novelty and standout attractions. For East Coast families, those long-haul fares usually tip the math back toward Florida. Either way, the fact that the comparison is even close says a lot about where U.S. theme-park pricing has landed.
